CLASSROOM TEACHER
CULINARY ARTS, GRADES 9-12
2024-2025 School Year


PRIMARY PURPOSE
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies
and skills to function successfully in society.  Provide students with a variety of skills in the area of culinary arts including career exploration in all areas of culinary and hospitality management.


QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements

 

Acceptable certificates:

  Family and Consumer Sciences, Composite: Grades 6-12

  Hospitality, Nutrition and Food Services:  Grades 8-12

  Homemaking or home economics

  Trade and Industry Education:

    Grades 6-12 with appropriate work approval as identified on certificate

    Grades 8-12 with appropriate work approval as identified on certificate

    Vocational Trades and Industry with appropriate work approval as identified on certificate

 

While the district seeks a fully certified teacher, candidates with industry experience and demonstrated proficiency in culinary arts may be considered for this teaching assignment.  


- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Prepare students for industry exams

- Provide extended hour opportunities for students to obtain the minimum hours and skills for industry exams.

- Engage in cross curricular activities with other CTE content areas as appropriate to curriculum

- Provide opportunities for students to provide culinary arts services to the school and community
